The Reivers is the story of Lucius Priest and his journey with rogue Boon Hogganbeck and his cousin Ned McCaslin from the deep country of Mississippi to Memphis. Along the way the three become thieves, or reivers, by stealing a car to make their fortune. The rest of the plot follows Lucius's reconciliation of his well-bred life with the harsher realities of the city, Boon's courtship of a prostitute, and Ned's pursuit of a career in racehorse ownership and gambling.
