Perfume: The Story of a Murderer is the story of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, an emotionless boy born in Paris in 1738 and immediately abandoned. Grenouille has an incredible sense of smell but produces no odor himself, and gradually he learns the art of perfumery as a way to give himself more presence through masking colognes and perfumes. Grenouille is heartless, though, and is gradually drawn to kill young women in pursuit of the perfect scent.
