In the Jungle of Cities is a play about a metaphor-laden boxing match between two fighters, the timber mogul Schlink and the relatively impoverished book clerk George Garga. The action takes place in Chicago in 1912 and shows the many reversals of fortune between the two combatants, their friends, and their families. They struggle for supremacy and for mastery of the city, inflicting considerable damage on those around them until their rivalry finally spirals out of control.
