David Copperfield, a nineteenth-century novel, tells the story of David Copperfield from the time he is a young boy through his adulthood. As a young boy, David endures the death of both of his parents, and after many hardships is raised by his Aunt Betsey. The novel details many events in David's life as he grows into a young man, and in adulthood he finds happiness in his marriage to Agnes. The most autobiographical of Dickens' novels, David Copperfield explores themes of class, wealth, and power.
