The Fat Girl is the story of Louise, a teenage girl with an eating disorder brought on in part by the cruel standards set by her peers and parents, particularly her mother. Louise is driven to eat in secret, hoarding and gorging on sweets to combat her mother's starvation tactics. Her entire life is a series of diets and judgments, first from her mother and later from her husband. Eventually she gives up on the entire idea of dieting, finding solace in her son.
