Caesar and Brutus are two important characters in the play. They are alike in many ways. They are different in many ways. They both have good qualities and they both have bad qualities. Their characters are very important in the play.1

Marcus Brutus is a high ranking Roman noble. He is well respected and honorable. He is a good friend to Caesar; however, he decides to join a conspiracy to kill Caesar with his good friend, Cassius. Brutus loves the city of Rome and would do anything for Rome. Brutus is very nave. He believed everything that Cassius told him about Caesar. He allowed himself to be manipulated. Brutus believes in a democratic form of government. He believes that if Caesar were to have the crown then Caesar would have absolute power.

Caesar, however, is a higher ranking roman general. The citizens of Rome believe that Caesar is immortal. They believe in his superiority. He already believes that he is an absolute ruler. Caesar also believes that no one can harm him. Caesar has a lot of close friends. He believes that Brutus is his true friend, however he chooses to stay away from Cassius. In the play he says to Antony, Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look. He thinks too much. Such men are dangerous. This means that Caesar does not trust Cassius. He feels that Cassius is to intelligent.

Brutus and Caesar are alike in many ways. Brutus and Caesar are both Roman nobles. Brutus and Caesar are both ambitious. They both want to be king. They both have wives who care about them. In the play Brutus wife, Portia, says I have made strong proof of my constancy, giving myself a voluntary wound here in my thigh. Can I bear that with patience, and not my husbands secrets? This means that Portia loves her husband enough to show that through anything he can trust her. Calphurnia, Caesars wife, loves her husband very much also. Calphurnia has a dream about Caesars death and urged him not to leave the house. This shows how much she cares. Brutus and Caesar both hides stuff from their wives. Brutus hides that he is going to kill Caesar and Caesar hides that he went against his wife and went to the capitol.

Although they are alike in many ways, they are also different. Caesar is a higher ranking noble than Brutus. Caesar is seen as an immortal superior god. Brutus believes in a government ran by the votes of the senate. Caesar wants to be an absolute ruler and already believes that he is. Caesar is aware of Cassius ways and Brutus does not. For example, Brutus is a very close friend to Cassius but Caesar sees how bad Cassius is.
