A tragedy is a work of literature that results in catastrophe for the main characters. Julius Caesar is a tragedy whose main character. Brutus is a brave and noble figure whose poor decision making results from the assumption that honorable ends justify honorable means. Unfortunately, for Brutus, the honorable end is his ultimate demise.

Brutus major flow is his inability to make good choices. He inevitably makes poor choices regarding country, state, and politics.

Brutus first mistake was getting influenced by Cassius to kill Caesar. Cassius congratulates himself that he has already influenced Brutus. Brutus is helping Cassius to kill Caesar.

The next mistake that Brutus made was joining the conspirators when they killed Caesar. All at once, the conspirators begin stabbing Caesar, Casca strikes first then Brutus strikes last. Brutus strikes the last blow and Caesar collapse and dies.

Then Brutus confessed that he killed Caesar. Brutus told Antony that they killed Caesar for the citizens of Rome. Antony became very emotional.

After that mistake he wanted to battle Antony and Octavius. Brutus told Cassius that they should battle Antony and Octavius in Philippi. Brutus and Cassius lost the battle against Antony and Octavius.

His final mistake was ordering his servant to hold out the sword that he killed Caesar with. Brutus told Strato to hold the sword towards him while he runs upon it. Brutus ran into the sword and killed himself.

Brutus committed suicide because he knew that he and his army were defeated. Antony said that Brutus was the noblest Roman of them all.
