The Mists of Avalon is a feminist reinterpretation of Arthurian legend centered on the character of Morgaine, a sorceress tasked with protecting the Pagan traditions of Old England. In the end she is able to make peace with the emergence of Christianity, realizing that it is only another iteration of the divine Mother Goddess she worships.
