The Secret Miracle is the story of Jaromir Hladik, a Czech Jewish playwright arrested by Nazis during World War II. Hladik is working on an unfinished play and prays to God that he be granted a year in which to write it. God grants Hladik's request, suspending time in place at the moment of Hladik's execution so that the playwright can mentally compose and complete his masterwork without anyone ever knowing.
