The Oresteia is a trilogy of Greek tragedies concerning the family of Agamemnon in the years after the Trojan War. The tragedies focus on the pursuit of justice and on a family believed to be cursed. In the first play, Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, the queen, plots the murder of her husband, as he sacrificed their daughter to the gods. Orestes, the couple's son, plots his mother's murder in the second play, the Libation Bearers. In the Eumenides, the final play, the Furies try to avenge Clytemnestra's death by killing Orestes.
