Pedro Paramo is a novel about Juana Preciado and his father Pedro Paramo. Upon his dying mother's request, Juan returns to the ghost town Comala to meet his father. However, Juan dies and the narration fractures, telling the story of Pedro, a cruel and powerful womanizer. After finally managing to recover his one true love, Susana San Juan, he finds that she is aloof and eventually dies. Out of anger, Pedro stops working for the town, which falls into death and poverty.
