A Jury of Her Peers is a short story adapted from the one act play Trifles. After the murder of John Wright, two women, Martha Hale and Mrs. Peters, accompany their husbands to the crime scene. There, they find a dead bird in a box, a pet that was beloved by the murdered man's wife. The two women quickly put it together that the woman killed her husband after he killed the bird but decide to hide the evidence.
