Sexing the Cherry is a postmodern novel about The Dog Woman and her apprentice and son, Jordan. The Dog Woman is a hideous giant who can travel through time and space, doing so mostly in search of fruit. She has a strange but mutually beneficial relationship with her son who is unbothered by her grotesque appearance and strange mannerisms. The book deals loosely with time and setting and makes frequent references to other literary works.
