Story of the Eye is a 1928 novella by Georges Bataille with themes of sensuality, decadence and immorality. The theme documents the escalation of a young couple's sexual perversions. Simone and the unnamed author originally involve Marcelle, a mentally ill girl, in their sex acts. However, after a blood-orgy, Marcelle goes insane and after the couple free her from an asylum, she commits suicide. The couple flees to Spain, engaging in sexual acts involving bull testicles, strangling a priest and severed eyeballs, before escaping on a yacht.
