Animals Can Talk?
In Orwells Animal Farm, Orwell resembles the Russian revolution and Stalins fraudulent ways. Stalin is represented by Napoleon, the malevolent pig and rules with his dogs or the K.G.B. Like Stalin, Napoleon lies and corrupts betraying the pigs and all the other animals. Rivaling Napoleon is, Snowball who is clearly the popular leader because of his personality and his superior knowledge and skills. In this novel there are many harmless things that add up forming their own little Russian revolution.
Napoleon was a strong leader but he is feeble in his own goals. As said the quote two legs, good four legs bad (pg 16) seems to be beyond the bounds because he begins walks on two legs symbolizing he was just like human. In his mind he was only concerned of his needs or pleasures and not for the better of the entire group. Snowball was courageous and caring for all the animals. Napoleon falls short of the well needed and well desired leadership position.
Snowball is a commendable leader because he is willing to work for the benefit of the group not just his own desires. He comes up with splendid ideas such as the wind mill and double teaming to multiply and prosper the harvest, as said in the quote How they toiled and sweated to get the hay in (pg 13).Snowball is hard working too. He didnt just boss others; he recognized was animal too and shared the labor. This shows that snowball had some potential as a great leader after all.
Snowball was not susceptible to vile ways like Napoleon surrounded himself in. In the quote Boxer, Boxer they are sending you to you death (pg57) says that Napoleon kills his own kind because boxer was injured in the hoof and couldnt work any longer. As said in the seven commandments the number six said no animal shall kill another animal but sure enough Napoleon sends boxer to the glue factory. Snowball represents the good and humble while Napoleon represents chaos and betrayal.
It is clear that snowball is the better leader because he shows courage and potential. For example he volunteered to lead in the first place, and he was smart with the creation of windmill, he was also good at getting what he wanted. He was admirable until he got banished by Napoleon who was crude and vindictive, like human. Snowball was most helpful for the benefit of the group not just himself.
