Animal Farm Essay
The brilliant book Animal Farm does indeed prove Lord Actons statement on power to be true. Lord Acton once said, Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely. The animal farm is filled with many animals, but only a few are in power. It is safe to say that those in power did indeed become corrupted. They became filled with selfishness and greed which only led to more work for the other animals. There was no animal more corrupted than Napoleon though.
Napoleon is the head pig in the book Animal Farm and he definitely does not want what is best for the animals. Napoleon only gained power when he took it from is comrade Snowball. What came next was indeed horrific. Napoleon became corrupted and wanted to change the rules in order to benefit him. So he made it so that he got the best food and always got to indulge in luxuries that nobody else had. He corrupted the entire farm and then even joined forces with the people that were declared eternal enemies. If thats not corruption than I dont know what else it could be.
Lord Acton definitely hit the nail on the head when he made that statement and world history can prove it. Just look at what the soviets did to their country, Animal Farm is based on those events, and even what is happening today with other countries. The leaders are taking too much power and are changing the rules of their society to provide them with better luxuries. So the lesson to be taught is that if any person has a little bit too much power that they will surely corrupt and take everyone else down with them.
