Curse you Knowledge
In vain, man has endured countless generations questioning the very reason behind their existence. With each new wave of man following a mindset which will allow them to do so. Through introspection humans have been able to try to question an otter most mystery, which has plagued the minds of philosophers, doctors, teachers, Romantics and even flies. Its no secret that the answer to this question, among many others has still to be answered. But at what price, would it take for ambition to confront this mystery, and ultimately dismantle our lives and each aspect of it, by investigating things that should not be bothered. Victors death towards the end of Frankenstein leaves us with many unanswered questions. But sadly, we may never know how mad knowledge can drive us if we are to be forever followed by people like Victor warning others of the dangers behind the mystery of knowledge.
As he journeyed away from the comfort of his family, he swiftly arrived onto the grounds of the university which surly would allow him to drink from the fountain of knowledge, for he was parched and craved for the thirst of said water. And like a sponge, all, which could be, was contained in that one sponge. He quickly came to the realization that by the stroke of his brush, he had not uncovered the mystery behind the knowledge of nature and life, but had created something far beyond that. He had created a monster within himself. During the time in which he further gathered knowledge on how to actually construct his monster, Victor showed evident signs of his decaying health and how this ambition to further pursue his desire led him onto his knowledge being of dangerous effects. However the gaining of knowledge through that process can be lamented, and cause its vessel a countless amount of misery and regret. The beauty of the unnatural act of creating the monster vanished as a [horrible] image began to shape the [desire] of all mankind through Victors hands and the monsters dull yellow eyes. Within the corresponding months to his meeting with Walton, Victor comes to realize that the knowledge he has gained throughout his life meant nothing, and he tries to instill these words onto Walton, on his dead bed. Yet now acknowledging the dangers knowledge brings, he warns Walton of the quest he undertook. Victor has seen the destruction it brings and him dying as the soul owner of this knowledge, he can never hurt again. Ironically enough, they serve to be his final ones, and Walton was passed down the dreaded curse of knowledge. But one of the questions that go unanswered are whether or not these words of wisdom were able to transcend Waltons mind, since we are not told whether or not he was able to voyage back to the warmth and comfort of England. His unknown journey to his is ambition. He leaves all behind like Victor had; both men achieving a status of solitude beyond any man can experience. How fitting for them to find themselves on the same boat.

His check had grown pale with study as he began to further distance himself, to become emaciated with confinement. Prior to this, Shelley refers to his investigation as an undertaking, which along with pale and confinement, signifies with the tone that in continuing, he was destroying himself: soul and social life all together. And as the story is being told by Robert Walton in the novel, the reader has to see beyond Victors pure genius and realize that his ambition to uncover the mystery behind all of this which has only brought secrecy to veil his life and disconnect from the world; All through the danger of knowledge. For, what is the purpose of knowledge, if one is already dead?
