Lady Macbeth does not fit into the typical picture of a woman. Explain.
Lady Macbeth is a manipulative, strong, un-lady like figure. She is one of the strongest women that Shakespeare has ever written about. Therefore she is not the usual woman that you would expect in every day life.
In a everyday situation, a typical woman is expected to be polite, offer support to their households and their family, and we expect them to have feminine qualities. However in the play, Lady Macbeth does not have any of these qualities you would expect from a true lady.
In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is a manipulative, powerful lady. She is strong-minded and a masculine lady that isnt afraid to kill Duncan, the king. This is shown when she quotes unsex me now, to show that she wants her lady-like feelings to be taken away from her. Therefore Lady Macbeth is not a typical day to day woman.
Lady Macbeth is not a typical woman as she is strong-minded and manipulative and is capable of violence. We see this when she first comes into the play, she is plotting to kill King Duncan, and later she is questioning her husbands masculinity and forces him to kill King Duncan. This is not the usual way of a typical woman. A usual wife would be nurturing their husbands decision and not forcing them to do something they werent quiet sure on. Therefore Lady Macbeth is not your typical woman.
However, Lady Macbeth does show one female quality towards the end, where she is showing sensitivity. This is when she is feeling extremely guilty and is showing remorse to the crimes that her husband and she commit. This female quality however eventually leads to her downfall and leads her into insanity. This forces her to jump off the tower and kill herself just because of the guilt that she feels towards the crimes.
In conclusion, Lady Macbeth shows only one lady-like feeling. Throughout the rest of the play she shows no lady like qualities, and therefore is not seen as your typical day to day woman
