Othello
In the book Othello, written by the great Shakespeare, there is an amazing ending line to the play. Line 435, Act 5. Scene 2, Lodovico ends with describing the terrible fate of what will become of Iago, and what has just taken place in the bedroom.
A modern translation of the speech is translated as, Cruel man, more angry pain, hunger, or the sea. Look at this sad bed, loaded with heartbreak. This is the work of Iago; it hurts my eyes to look at it. Hide it, Gratiano, and watch over the house. Cassio, the Moors valuables now belong to you. Now there is nothing left but the punishment for this terrible man. I will pick the time, place, and torture, I will make sure it is brutal. I immediately will act on this sad event of love. Lodovicos line makes the act, scene, and character important by how dedicated he is. Lodovico says The time, the place, the torture, O, enforce it. That line makes it clear that he had many feelings about how Iago treated Othello. This act also forms Lodovico because he would have never made his appearance if Iago hadnt go nuts and killed Roderigo. Lodovico came in and started to play his role perfectly. He played a very caring character and showed much emotion. Lodovicos end line made a great ending to the play. It would not have ended any better with other characters because the other characters did not have as much feeling as Lodovico did.
Shakespeare did an excellent job ending the play Othello. He picked a character that Was not one of the common characters. Lodovico was almost like an extra, but Shakespeare took a chance and made him the ending line, which made the play even Better. Shakespeare made many good books, and Othello is definitely one of them.
