It is my belief that many people are to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The main cause in my opinion is the families quarreling. On the other hand, Friar Lawrence also aided in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet by marrying the two star-crossed lovers and by giving Juliet the sleeping potion but failing to get Romeo the letter. Likewise, the Capulets Nurse also should take some of the blame because she acted as a messenger between the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Several people are to blame for the tragic losses that take place in the story, and it is all due to selfishness and lack of forgiveness.
The Capulets and Montagues quarreling is the number one reason why Romeo and Juliet felt the need to end their own lives so abruptly. For instance, if the feuding would have never existed, Romeo would never have killed Tyblat and been exiled; therefore, he would never have killed himself over the thought of Juliet being dead. The parents of both Romeo and Juliet selfishly put their own needs towards the feud ahead of their own childrens emotions and wellbeing. Lord Capulet set up the arrangements for Juliet and Pariss wedding against his daughters wishes after Tyblat had been slain and Romeo exiled.
Friar Lawrence aided the young lovers in many ways that lead to Romeo and Juliets untimely suicides. For example, the Friar married Romeo and Juliet in his selfish hopes that it would cause forgiveness and stop the quarrelling families. Friar Lawrence had a brilliant plan, or so he thought, he gave Juliet sleeping potion so she could fake her death, but failed at getting Romeo the letter explaining the plan. Finally, he left Juliet alone with Romeos lifeless body unaware that she would also take her life.
The Nurse, although not majorly, deserves some of the blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. For instance, she was a messenger between the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, only causing more heartbreak in the long run. The Nurse also agreed to help them set up their wedding plans. She encouraged Juliet to marry Paris after Romeo had been exiled, which caused her to seek help from Friar Lawrence.
In conclusion, it is obviously stated that the deaths of these two individuals were believed caused by numerous people. The tragic loss of such precious lives had many contributing factors to their causes. Due to selfishness and lack of forgiveness, terrible things could happen because of meaningless feuding, an ignorant friar, and a misleading messenger.
