Romeo and Juliet
In the play Romeo and Juliet by the playwright William Shakespeare, the most vital scene is Act III scene I, when Tybalt and Mercutio both die on the street, which were the results of duelling. The reason is because of the effects of the family feud going on towards the characters. Also, it leads to the fate of Romeo and Juliet, as Romeo is forced to be banished from Verona. These details will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
In this scene, it is set in Verona. It starts with the duel between Mercutio and Tybalt, which is caused by verbal abuse and cursing of one another. This particular duel leads to the death of Mercutio, as the rapier goes through the gap between Romeos arm and body, then it stabs Mercutios heart, as he was standing behind Romeo. Afterwards, Romeo gets furious, therefore he searches for Tybalt, and duels him. This also leads to a death, the death of Tybalt. The death of the two enemies occurred at approximately 2pm.
After the Prince of Verona finds out about the incident, he believes Romeo is the main reason and cause for the arguing between the two families. Even though Romeo is thought to be the main reason, he cannot be hung, as it will cause more problems between the two families, therefore he is banished out of Verona, and he is not allowed to return, as he cannot stay in Verona without any punishment.
When the nurse tells Juliet about Romeos, Tybalts and Mercutios fates, Juliet automatically starts crying, because, not just because one of her family members has just died, whereas also because her loved one must leave Verona forever. When Juliets mother comes in Juliets room, Juliet continues crying, however she thinks she is crying only because of Tybalts death.
The reason this scene is very important to the storyline, is because if it doesnt occur, Romeo will not need to leave the city, therefore there will be no need for Juliet to fake her death. If she doesnt fake her death, no one will need to give Romeo any news, but there will be no need to give Romeo any news, as he is still in Verona.
There were many chain/linking events if it did not happen, it will not flow to Shakespeares storyline. Also, if it didnt occur, Romeo and Juliet should have a higher chance of having a better future, however the feud between the two families will take longer to end.
